Hardwell Close

A couple weeks ago I finally cracked open a bag of Great Value Red Curry flavored potato chips ("free from artificial flavours and colours" [""Inspired by Thailand""]) that had been in the salty cellar for a minute. Looking at the notes I took on my phone I was initially confused..what the what is rushed chips?...Ohhhh, ridged chips. Standard 2mm+/- ridges (wavy lays esque if you may). They were uniformly off-white with few traces of skins and virtually no well cooked chips. The crunch was fairly light for ridged chips, almost a standard non-ridged chip crunch, which was quite surprising. Now lets rewind for a minute, at first whiff, it was curry (who would have thought eh?). The tasted like...drum-roll please..red curry. Not very spicy with hints of sweetness that was mostly present in the aftertaste. The kick that was present was slightly less than your standard jalap chip seasoning. The seasoning was fairly well distributed throughout the bag. All in al

Dreamy Little You

2019 happened, amiright. Chips and music, my vices are still going strong and barely managed. Below are some things that I enjoyed in the last year of the 20teens. Beyond categorization - Interviewing (via email) Mike Park .    Chip/Snack Division : - Quote from 2018 that still applies: "Covered Bridge chips & Co-op Gold PURE chips (these will likely show up every year because they're fantastic. [I (still) haven't tried CB popcorn yet..maybe in 2019 {I'm a chip man, man}, we'll see {update for 2019, did not try it}]) & there is no beating the PURE price point. They're premium chip quality for like $2.70." 2019 update, it seemed like the PURE stock at my local co-op was reduced and they didn't always carry all of the flavours, hopefully this isn't an indication that they're going the way of jalapeno dill. I think my top PURE flavour for 2019 was sweet maui onion..out of the freezer. Also finding out that Franks (Cana

The Beautiful People

Miss Vickie's Signature "Limited Edition" kettle cooked chips you say. Hickory Smoked Salt flavour you say. They smell like 'bacon' flavoured chips you say. Wait, what's that? There's a bit of a hint citrus tang followed by faux bacon flavouring? Yea?? The chips are a mid-weight kettle cooked..maybe a little bit on the lighter side of mid-weight..like a 4 to 4.5/10, they're still quite crunchy but not all that aggressive? I thought I heard you say that. Are the actual potato chips fairly uniformly off-white with very few browns to be found if any? That sounds about right, it's good to hear the skins are still there though. Now for the question everyone wants to know, would you procure these again? I don't know, probably not. They taste like faux bacon flavoured chips, not my favourite chip family in general. Nothing all that new, as the "Limited Edition" "Signature" bag would suggest.  I was looking back at a best of 90&
